Renowned local Peter Glass as a garden designer, mud brick builder and an accomplished artist who studied at Swinburne Technical College under Max Meldrum, mastering the technique of tonal realism. Glass also studied art in London and Paris from 1951 to 1955 as evident in his works Cecile in Paris (1953) and Le Pont Marie Winter Morning (1953).
Glass' interest in nature, sustainable building practices as well as the built environment saw him favour painting Victorian cityscapes and landscapes as evident in his paintings The Yellow Peril (c. 1940s), Butterfly Country, Eltham (c.1940s), Yarra Braes Road, Eltham (c.1970s) and Abbotsford 1985.
