Historical information

Although the Old Colonists' Coat of Arms is distinct from the later, more formal Ballaarat City Coat of Arms. The Ballarat Coat of Arms symbolises the city's history and features a miner holding a pick and a farmer holding a scythe on either side of a shield, representing the gold rush and agricultural roots. It includes icons for industry, arts, and the Southern Cross constellation, with a Latin motto translating to "Culture and Industry".
