Probably bought from a French villager and sent home to a family member by an Australian soldier serving in the AIF in WWI.

Representative of village handcraft produced for sale to Australian soldiers in France during world War 1 (1914-1919)

Physical description

Embroidered cream silk head-rest cushion with red and blue flowers, gold leaves, gold and cream piping, and the words "Souvenir of France." Padded with cotton wadding.
