Historical information

Mrs Smith Clough wrote many typewriting text books. She was a winner of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for Typewriting contests at a National level. Her books came with diagrams on many of the major typewriters of the day and a course in touch typing with numerous exercises to practice.

Significance

Before computers, typewriters were a useful tool for people whose work involved writing a lot of letters or stories. This book was re-issued many times and was typical of the tet books used by those learning to "touch type".
