Hot water bottle, 1940s

Historical information

This is an example of a hot water bottle in common use in households in the mid 20th century before the use of rubber ones.

Significance

This bottle has no known local provenance but is retained as an example of a household item from the past.

Physical description

This a cylindrical silver coloured metal canister. It has a screw top stopper with a metal handle. The top of the stopper is rusted. The body of the canister has three lots of ridges around the surface and is also chipped.
