Meat hooks are used to hang up livestock that has been killed and is ready to be cut up for human consumption. The hooks vary in strength and size.The 'handle' enables the meat to slide along a rail. See Also KVHS 1666

Significance

Farmers in the Kiewa Valley graze cattle, sheep and pigs. They sell their animals to the butcher who prepares them to sell to his customers for food. These meat hooks came from the Tawonga butcher.
