Historical information
In 1904 Andrew Anderson was President of the Ballarat School of Mines. Part of his report states:
'As befitting the parent institution of its kind in the Commonwealth, having been founded in 1870 "to impart instruction in the various branches of science relating to mining" the School upholds its prestige as an institution where the advantages of a thoroughly scientific and practical education can be obtained', and a statement of receipts and expenditure '.
