The School of Mines and Industries Annual Report 1914 from the President, Part of the Report includes:
'Early in the year it was felt that the School was passing through a somewhat critical period. The increasing number of departments of instruction had correspondingly added to the responsibility of management, and it was found that the old system was not elastic enough to deal with the new situation'.
