This beret is symbolic to the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and is held in the highest regard by serving and ex-members of that corp.

Significance

Saint Eligius was the patron saint the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and he is best known for being the patron saint of horses which is depicted in the RAEME insignia.

Physical description

Black woolen beret with cotton headband. Attached is a small metal badge, or insignia featuring a golden crown, a ribbon, a lightening bolt and a horse rearing atop a ball and chain.
