Historical information
Queen Elizabeth I's second great seal was engraved from designs by Nicholas Hillyard and used from 1585-1603. It shows the queen on horseback, above a rose, a harp and a fleur-de-lis, each with a crown, symbolising the kingdoms of England, Ireland and France.
