In 1927 Mr A. K. T. Sambell built a pier, planned and subdivided a residential estate, designed and built Summerland House, where ardent golfers after an enjoyable day on the course, could relax.
Summerland House was built by local builder Mr Vic McRae. It attracted large numbers of professional people from Melbourne.
