The photograph was taken after 1910 when the chapel, on the left, was built.
Significance
This is a rare photograph of the Central Institute built in 1907 replaced by the Flinders Street Institute in 1917. The two buildings coexisted for many years until the this one was demolished (date still unknown).
Physical description
Small monochrome photograph at 45 degree angle depicting a horse carriage passing in front of the Siddeley Street mission, known as the Central Seamen Institute.
