Padre Wong as he was known together with his family served as the first Chinese priest from 1963 - 1968 to minister to the needs of seafarers from the far east. He was ably supported in his ministry by his wife and two sons.

The photograph was published on the Annual Report 1963 (page 6).

Significance

The Appointment of Padre Wong reflected the increased manning of container ships with seafarers from India the Philippines, Japan and China.
