Historical information

In November 2001 Australian SAS troops joined the war in Afghanistan under the operation name "Operation Slipper." Australia's military contribution to the International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan ended in 2014, making Operation Slipper Australia's longest running operation.

Physical description

This commemorative medallion features the tri-service colours, navy, red and light blue, representing the Australian Defence Force, and a golden bounding kangaroo to represent non-combatant contributions. Commemorative text encircles the kangaroo motif and Coat of Arms on the front and back, respectively.
