Historical information

1st Battalion Australia is an Infantry Battalion of the Australian Army. The 1st Battalion can be traced back to 1854 as a unit of Volunteer Rifles raised in New South Wales.
The Battalion was active during periods 1914-1919, 1921-1930 and 1957-1971.
The Battalion is still in existence as the 1st/19th Battalion Royal NSW Regiment.
