Significance

Soldier's name known. Items donated (date unknown) by brother-in-law who was living in Montmorency and was a committee member of MERSL when item donated.

Physical description

Oval shaped slice of wood from the cedar tree in Lebanon. Carving of a cedar tree across top and emblem of Australian Commonwealth Military Services half way down and Cedar of Lebanon across the bottom half. Stained with light brown varnish. Original bark of tree all the way around the edge.

Inscriptions & markings

Two stamps in French possibly where it was made, Artiols bois des cedres. Becharry Liban. Salim Kabalan.
Hand written message;- Mother with all the best to you Bill. Dated 25-10-41
