This pattern of gaiter was worn by US troops during WW2. These particular gaiters were shortened by Australian troops and used in the New Guinea theatre of operations.
US M1938 Canvas Gaiter (Right), khaki with leather laces and hoop and loop fastening. Webbing strap and brass buckle. Shortened for use by Australian troops in New Guinea
