Written on rear of backing sheet: "North Ringwood SS. Major General Beavis receiving new plaque for tree he planted in 1955. Tree is planted in sand brought back from Gallipoli by the then President of School Committee who visited there in 1936 whilst serving in H.M.A.S. Australia."
Written on back of small photograph: "Major General Beavis handing plaque to Mr.A. Moten, Headmaster of Ringwood North SS, to replace original one. Ringwood R.S.L. rep Mr.D. Mattiske on left."
