Written on back of photograph, "ROW Next to Mail Office 1960's) and "Old right of way now Civic Place". Catalogue card reads, "Old right of way which ran from Adelaide St. near hospital. When sold it became part of thoroughfare leading to Warrandyte Road. L.H. side present (1987) a garage, R.H. side is Safeways. Right though past Dickins (now National Bank) to Ringwood St.

Two catalogues of goods to sell, from Ringwood Timber & Trading
Editorial of 15201b includes a short history of the company. In 1937, Mr S Coopersmith and son, Frank (the present Managing Director) started a fruit case manufacturing business in North Melbourne under the name of The Cooper Case Co. The business flourished, and in 1940, recognising the possibilities in and around Ringwood, an old bush sawmill and an area of land on the Maroondah Highway, were secured. Subsequent purchases have since increased this area to approximately 15 acres. It was decided to widen the activities and scope of the business and two new firms were formed. Cooper Sawmilling Co., which operated a modern sawmill, and Ringwood Timber & Trading Co., which handled the output of the sawmill and introduced builders' and general hardware lines to meet the demands of this rapidly expanding area. As Ringwood grew, so too did the organisation which was created to serve it. The principals studied timber and hardware merchandising trends overseas, and after considerable investigation the new building on Maroondah Highway was completed in 1956. Today, acclaimed as one of the most modern mills and hardware stores in the Southern Hemisphere, combining up to date machinery and handling equipment together with unique drive-in facilities and a self-selection centre. Ringwood Timber & Trading Co. are proud to offer a service unparallelled to home builders. In conformity with modern commercial practice the various firms have since been incorporated under the Victorian Companies Act and the latest accounting methods and office equipment have been installed to provide an efficient and virile administration to control the entire manufacturing and trading activities. Blue postmarked Airmail/Air Letter from Grand Council, O.S.M. London, dated 13th April, 1959 to A.J.B. Aird regarding accepting the Office of Past Grand Standard Bearer and ability to attend the Grand Conclave Meeting for Investiture on 13th June, 1959, at the Cafe Royal, London.
Clearance certificate and covering letter - Brother Alan Aubrey Williams, Master Mason, ceased to be a member of Prince of Wales Mark Lodge No.8 under the United Grand Lodge of Antient, Free and Accepted Masons of Victoria and is clear of all dues. Dated at St.Kilda on 31st March, 1943. Covering letter addressed to Brother Williams signed by Norman Wright, Secretary, 12th April, 1942.
Clearance certificate - Allan Aubrey Williams, Master Mason, ceased to be a member of United Grand Lodge of Antient, Free and Accepted Masons of Victoria and is clear of all dues. Dated at North Carlton on 21 February, 1928.

Certification that Brother Arthur James Bromwich Aird, being properly qualified as a Mark Master Mason and Royal Arch Mason, was - (a) duly acknowledged as a Most Excellent Master, and (b) received and greeted as a Royal Select and Super Excellent Master - in the Melbourne Council No. 56 on 1st November, 1955 & recommended to the notice, attention and protection of all illustrious and well beloved companions throughout the globe.

A recount of votes in Loughnan's Hill Ward failed to overturn the result in the most hotly contested ward of last weekend's first Maroondah Council elections.Despite attracting only 1014 first preference votes - fourth highest - Joe Cossari went on to win Loughnan's Hill by 247 votes from former Ringwood councillor Yvonne Kaukas after preference votes recorded by six other candidates were distributed.
