Many achievements, few regrets. This month marks the first anniversary of the local government elections. The Mail invited Maroondah's seven councillors to have their say on their first year in office and their hopes and plans for the future.

Certification Arthur James B. Aird admitted to the Degree of Most Excellent Master by the Box Hill Chapter, No. 51 meeting at Box Hill, Victoria. Enrolled, recorded, signed and Seal affixed at Melbourne on 31st July, 1937.
Buff coloured certificate with red Grand Lodge seal. Certification that Brother Alan Aubrey Williams was advanced to the honorable Degree of Mark Master on 26th October, 1939, in the Prince of Wales Lodge No.8. Signed and dated 15th January, 1940.
Buff coloured certificate with red Lodge seals. Certification that Arthur James Bromwich Aird was received and acknowledged as a Grand Elected Knight Kadosh, 30 Degrees, conferred on 1st May, 1962. Signed by the Grand Secretary General and Seals affixed in the Grand Council Chamber at London on 20th June A.L. 5962, A.D. 1962.
Certification that Brother Samuel Williams was regularly received into the Free Masonry on 5th December AL5950 and was admitted to the 3rd Degree on 5th June, 1951, in the East Burwood Lodge No. 686. Certificate signed and blue seal attached on 17th January, 1952.
Two certificates - Arthur James Bromwich Aird (1) solemly received admitted and consecrated as a Knight of the Order of the Temple in Geelong Preceptory at Geelong, Victoria, on 1st July, 1936, and (2) solemly admitted as a Knight of St.John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta in the Geelong Priory, Geelong, Victoria, on 18th April, 1938.
Letter dated 25th January, 1957, from Grand Secretary's Office, Freemasons' Hall, 25 Collins Street Melbourne to Wor. Bro. A.J.B. Aird, Warrandyte Road, Ringwood, notifying fee registration and certification fee upon accepting proposed rank of Past Senior Grand Deacon.
Certificate notifying that Bro. Arthur James Bromwich Aird, Reg.No. 153328 was duly installed Supreme Ruler of the Kingscott Conclave No.122 on 13th December AL 5955, 1955, and commissioned as a Supreme Ruler in the Order. Signed and dated 28th February, 1958. Grand Supreme Ruler - M.W. Bro. Sir George Townsend Boag K.C.I.E., C.I.E., M.A. (Cantab.) Past Grand Counsellor - R.W. Bro. G.C. Kingscott Grand Recorder - A.A. Murphy
Certification Arthur James Bromwich Aird is a regular Royal Arch Mason admitted to Box Hill Chapter No.51 on 30th June AL 5936. Certificate signed and seal imprinted on 3rd August, 1936.
Certification that Brother Arthur James Bromwich Aird was regularly received into the Free Masonry on 6th January AL5926 and was admitted to the 3rd Degree on 6th October, 1926, in the Ringwood Lodge No. 382. Certificate signed and blue seal attached on 24th January, 1927.
Buff coloured certificate with red Lodge seal. Certification that Bro. Arthur James Bromwich Aird was elevated to the honorable Degree of a Royal Ark Mariner on 9th November 1943 in the Camberwell Royal Ark Mariner Lodge attached to the Camberwell Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 86. Signed and dated 26th January, 1944.

Maroondah City Council will receiove more than $8.5 million from the trustees of Eastland Shopping Centre if the sale of the Ringwood Bowling Club and nearby car park goes ahead. However, the agreement must first be approved by Local Government Minister Roger Hallam and Treasurer Alan Stockdale.

A Maroondah Council spokesperson has confirmed the previous Ringwood Coucil intended selling Ringwood Bowling Club to Coles Myer Ltd. The Coles Myer proposal which Ringwood Council agreed with is understood to include an undisclosed sale price and the schedule and conditions of payment.

Maroondah City Council has slashed its community grants budget for 1995/96, but it says community groups won't miss out. Council's corporate manager, Lydia Philippou, saiid community groups have nothing to fear. Some groups that had been eligible for community grants had been included in the council's recurrent budget.
