Pioneer members of these families first settled in the area in the 1840s. As well as describing these families the book also contains a series of pen pictures of the colourful characters who lived in the district during the early part of this century. Its author, Keith Ormsby, was a grandson of the pioneers. He was born and spent the early part of his life at Ballangeich. The reprint includes an index to aid in the location of specific people and places."
