Inscriptions & markings
To the Mayor of Ringwood, Dear Sir,
1. On Sunday the 20/11/38. From information received from a caretaker of the lake situated in Whitehorse Road, Ringwood, I proceeded to the lake at 12:50pm.
2. I found four boys in bathing dress swimming in the lake near the trout fisher's landing stage. One enterprising lad was testing the life-buoy in the water.
3. The boys were: Ralph Loone aged 13 years, George Loone aged 14 years, Alfred Loone aged 10 years, all of Greenwood Avenue, Ringwood, and David Carvill aged 14 years of Pine Crescent, Boronia. The Loone family have only been in Ringwood about one week. They appeared to be of a respectable type. The day was exceptionally hot.
4. I informed the boys that they were not permitted to swim in the lake, and I explained to them how to get to the Ringwood baths.
5. Does the Council of the Borough of Ringwood desire that these lads be prosecuted?
