Nurses case, Globe Goods, Nurse Maggs' case used in Ringwood in the early 1900s

Historical information

Marianne Hardridge married James Maggs and had 11 children. They began orcharding on Wonga Road when there was nothing but bush. Over the years it became one of the largest orchards, and they were also one of the largest families in the district. As well as helping on the land Marianne took up nursing and as Nurse Maggs brought over 500 children into the world in the Ringwood area. This was in the early 1900s when there was no doctor, no dentist, no hospital or chemist in the area.
