The men in this photograph are harvesting dry bean plants. They have been threshed with flails and raked. the dry straw is tossed off and the dry beans are collected to be hand sorted.
Significance
This item is associated with the seed bean industry which was a major industry in the Orbost district for the first half of the 20th century.
