This hat was worn by Martin Balsarini. Martin was a First World War veteran of the AIF Light Horse. He fought in the battle of Bersheeba.
It is thought that Martin assembled this hat from various pieces to wear after the war on his property in Chiltern Valley. The hat is composed of different elements, including badges from various times and places and a set of emu feathers.
