Historical information

Roman style chasuble, part of a full vestment set used in the Catholic Cathedral Ballarat in the 1920s. This style of vestment was superseded in the1970s following the second Vatican Council. This set is unusual in its use of art-deco design.

The main component of a set of vestments for use in the Catholic liturgy rare in its use of art-deco style embroidery. Roman style.

Inscriptions & markings

Symbolism of wheat and vine with central medallion of Christ as the Sacred Heart. Also a Chiro in lower section of orphery.
