Historical information
The 3-inch (81.5mm) mortar was used by the Australian Army during WW2 and later until replaced by the US 81mm mortar in the late 1960s. Ammunition was usually carried in these cardboard 3-packs.
Physical description
Three painted cardboard tubes connected by metal bands with wooden spacers. Cotton webbing carrying handle with oxidised brass buckles.
