William and Elizabeth Box migrated from Sussex England c1850 and established a market garden in the area of Henry Dendy's 'Special Survey Brighton 1841' in the Parish of Moorabbin, County of Bourke. William's parents, George & Mary Box followed in 1856 bringing 6 of their 10 children and joined William in East Brighton ( Bentleigh)
Gertrude Emma Box is a descendant of this family.

Significance

The Box family were pioneer settlers in the area of 'Henry Dendy's Special Survey 1841' Brighton and established market gardens .
