Historical information
The post card is of 'The Lodge' and the gateway to the Rupertswood Estate, which was owned by the Clarke family. 'The Lodge' was the former gatekeeper's cottage. When William Clarke had the mansion built he styled it on similar homes that the upper-classes in Britain owned. It was customary to include a Lodge at the main gate and a private railway siding along landscaped gardens.
