Historical information
The Melbourne Junior Technical School "has been established by the Government with the view of giving boys a training which will prepare them for their future life's work." The aim of the school is to enable the boys to realise that knowledge can be applied to everyday life and so their interest is aroused and they start to learn things for themselves. "It should be clearly understood that the school does not teach a boy a trade. It gives him that combination of theory and practice which is the best introduction to all trades" and so he can decide which path he will follow for further education.
