Eltham Council photo of Pitt Street and Bible Street road construction works looking southeast towards Henry McColl's Milk Bar at Bible Street and Pitt Street, Eltham, circa September 1966. The boy on the bike near Bible Street is Peter McColl. The McColls departed in the early 1970s.

The works were part of construction of the full length of Bible Street, Eltham, and intersecting major private streets between Grove Street and Dalton Street at a cost of almost £250,000.

Stage 1 commenced late 1965 which included Bible Street to a point south of Taylor Street, Grove Street, Luck Street, Arthur Street, Browns Crescent, Henry Street and Taylor Street. Cost was estimated at £100,000.

This picture is from the second stage around September 1966; the continuation of Bible Street through to Dalton Street, Bridge Street, Pitt Street and Brougham Street. Pitt Street was constructed to the western arm of View Hill Crescent and Bridge and Brougham Streets to their present ends. Total length of this stage was just under two miles (3.2km) and cost about £150,000.
