The 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, USA were the tenth edition of the Summer Paralympics.

It was the first Paralympic Games where International Sports Federation for Persons with an Intellectual Disability athletes were given full medal status.

The three coloured drops on the pin represent "mind, body, and spirit".
