Margaret Sutherland was the daughter of the first may of the Borough of Clunes, Charles Tytler Sutherland. He was elected Council Member 8/10/1861, elected Chairman 25/2/1862, elected Mayor 1/10/1863 - 8/8/1867, resigned from council 14/2/1867. He served as a councilor and mayor in the 1930's
