Local newspaper article calling for a new Heidelberg City library. Eventually the library in the basement of the Heidelberg Town Hall was re-established in a purpose built building. The Ivanhoe Library opened in 1965.
This library is part of the Heidelberg Regional Library which also served Eltham and which also had need for a new dedicated library. The Heidelberg Regional Library later evolved into the Yarra Plenty Regional Library.
