Historical information

Steam trains on the way to Bendigo stopped at Sunbury Station to refill the water tanks. After leaving Sunbury there was a long steep incline along the tracks so a lot of steam was needed to drive the engines.

Significance

The water tank on Sunbury Station is of heritage interest.
