The Charlton Presbyterian Church was built in 1871 by James Patterson, a contractor and grazier of Nardoo Park, Woosang.

The Presbyterian Church was built in 1871 by local contractor and grazier James Patterson of Nardoo Park, Woosang. The Presbyterian and Methodist Churches formed combined Parish in 1969. The buildings were demolished in 1989.

The dray is loaded with three layers of full bags and there is a bicycle on top of the bags. There are two buildings behind the bullock dray. The building on the right has a large sign reading GLENLOTH HOTEL. A typed note at the bottom the photo reads Bullock dray outside the Glenloth store c. 1900.

The current St Martins Anglican Church was built in 1963 to replace the first weatherboard church built in 1889. Shire of Charlton photo c. 1989.

St Martin's Anglican Church Armstrong St Charlton c. 1901, built in 1889. The weatherboard church was used until the early 1960s when it was replaced by the current brick building. The cataloguing sheet lists Mr John Gidley King in the photo.

St Martin's Anglican Church was built in 1889. Victoria Hall was built for E. Miles in 1884. The post card is part of a series taken c. 1907.

The garage was established in the 1930s by Mr Gamble. Other proprietors were Perc Kimberley 1943-46, Henderson 1946, Neil Rogers. K. & B. Patton ran the garage from 1960s - 2008

The Charlton Roadhouse was established in the 1960s (TBC)

Charlton Motel built in the 1960s.

Charlton Railway Station was established in 1882 and closed down in the late 1970s.

A previous mill had operated in Charlton by Mr. W.E. Foreman on the banks of the Avoca River and was acquired in 1919 by Noske Bros. The present Flour Mill was built by Noske Bros and opened in May 1927. It was taken over by the Grain Elevator Board in the 1970s.

Lou's Cafe c. 1987. In the 1930s and early 40's it was Riches Cafe and Billiards Saloon. Sold to Halligan's, Duggans, Jerry Cowell until 1951 when Luths took over the building as a Car and Tractor agency. Next door was Bennett's Shoe Repair Shop which was later a Stock & Station Agency. Part of a streetscape series done for the Shire of Charlton c. 1987.

Originally Luth's General Store purchased from John Flug in 1875. Renovated and enlarges several times over the years. Business sold to Wignall's in 1971, then O'Donnell's, Currans, Carroll & H?son (C&H) and Graeme Paterson purchased the building in 1986.

East Charlton Hotel built in 1875 by John Flug to replace his original log and bark inn built 1863. The first inn was about 100 metres behind this building and it was Charlton's first commercial building. The hotel was rebuilt by C. Klug in 1891. It was rebuilt as a two storey building in 1925. Part of a streetscape series done for the Shire of Charlton in 1987.

Corner of High St and Williams St (now Curtin Dve). Formerly the site of Wingfield's Hides and Wool agent and Frank O'Grady's solicitors office. In 1971 Jim Bannon moved his butcher business from the eastern end of High St to this newly built shop. He sold to Weirs in 1986 who sold to Frank Bourke in 1987. Part of a streetscape series taken for the Shire of Charlton in 1987.

Arundell's Shoe Shop and Dalgety's Agency , centre of High St Charlton, north side c. 1987. Corner of High St and Williams Ave (now John Curtin Drive). Right hand building built by William Williams as a saddlery c. 1910. Arundell's Shoe Shop formerly ANA Boot and Shoe Shop established by John Arundell in 1901. The shop was sold by Vic Arundell in 1980 and closed. Next door was John Watson's Stock & Station Agents which later became Dalgety's. The end shop was the saddlery and then Bullock's grocery 1930's to 1970's. In 1957 became Charlton's first self service store. Became Australian Estates late 1970s. The shops were later demolished to make way for the Traveller's Rest. Part of a streetscape series taken in 1987 for the Charlton Shire.

The Charlton Gentlemen's Club was established in 1900 by solicitor Ben Green. The original building had a narrow entrance off High St, between Egan & Spains Grocery Shop and the Central Café. After fire damaged the buildings in the 1970s, the club was extended to its present size. The vacant block next door was formerly Clark's butcher's shop. Part of a series of streetscapes taken for the Charlton Shire in 1987.

Globe Hotel, High St Charlton, established 1874 by John Walsh. This is the third building on the site. The first was destroyed by fire and rebuilt. It was then rebuilt as a two-storey hotel in 1940. It closed as a hotel in the early 1970's and became offices and flats. The Charlton Gentlemen's Club on the RH side was established in 1900. Photo is part of a series of streetscapes taken in 1987 for the Charlton Shire.

The Old Globe Hotel established 1874, rebuilt c. 1903 and again in 1940 for licensee J. Credlin. Was the Soil Conservation Authority office , then flats and offices.

Arundell's Shoe Store moved to current location from the centre of High St c.1986 . Formerly E. Stowe's fruit shop and cafe. Westpac Bank, formerly Commonwealth Bank of Australasia built 1887. Part of the Shire Council streetscape series 1987.
