Historical information

A handwritten change of text and name on the certificate prompted the final 5 certificates (95-100) to be cancelled and torn from the book. No. 95 became the proforma for subsequent certificate of Competency printed books.

No. 95 SCHOOL OF HORTICULTURE BURNLEY with the word "Gardens" added. Inked in "Cancelled"
On the Certificate
"School of" "Horticulture" crossed out and pencil scribe replaced by "School of Horticulture" "Burnley Gardens"
This Certificate of Competency in Horticulture is granted to..... who has completed a two years' course at the above Institution, having satisfied the examiners at each of the "four term" crossed out and replaced by "terminal" examinations
