Some of the first homes built at Eventide Homes Stawell. These building of a home for the elderly people was first discussed at a Borough Council meeting on 14th April 1948 by councilor E. W. Carra. A public meeting 12th October 1950 preferred the building of home units. From that developed the Eventide homes project. The first unit built, by voluntary labour and mainly furnished from donations was opened 17th August 1955.
The Commonwealth Social Serviced Department subsidised the building of units in c 1950 - 1960.
