The Murrumbeena Branch of the Alfred Hospital Auxiliary held a grand charity gymkhana on 7 September, 1929 at the Central Speedway, Boundary Road, Bentleigh.
It was a full racing program with several trotting events. There were also games and several well-stocked stalls.

Significance

Early settler market gardeners were generous with their support for local hospitals and charitable associations
