Book - Air Raid Precautions, WWII, Manual of General Training Sept. 1939

Historical information

With the onset of WWII, the Victorian State Emergency Council of Defence printed this book for the volunteers who kept watch for enemy aeroplanes flying in the skies during the day and night. For success, training was necessary.

Significance

During WWII the SECV township of Bogong had an Air Observer's Hut used to monitor the skies overhead for enemy planes. Men and women working on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme volunteered to be rostered on duty. See also KVHS 0937 (photo) and KVHS 0938 (certificate)
