Original owner, Major John Charles Edward Douglas 400th Bn Yorkshire Regt who died aged 39 on Saturday 18th December 1915, Major Douglas was the son of Admiral Sir Archibald Douglas GCB, GCVO, LL.D, JP and Lady Douglas Barrister, Gray’s Inn. Remembered with with HONOR, Bailleul Communal cemetery Extentsion (Nord) Nard France 11.B.64.

Rectangular wooden board, rotating metal bezel ring, markings, compass, clinometer, leather straps, graph paper, wooden ruler, with attached brass folding hinge.
