John Wakefield Snr. migrated to Australia in 1852, as a crewman. Elizabeth, John, Tom and George arrived in 1854. In 1859 John Wakefield Jnr. married Rhoda Hartnett. They purchased land and a cottage on the Springfield Village Estate, Springfield Road, Blackburn North.
