Historical information

When the Eastern Mail Centre opened in 1992, it was the biggest suburban mail centre in the country. Work on the $5.6 million centre began in February 1992 and was completed in late October of the same year.The centre was able to sort more that one million articles daily, and in 1992 operated 24 hours a day, six days a week, employing 400 staff.
