Scotch Driver is a tool that is used to knock the iron hoops on a barrel into position they are grooved to prevent them from slipping off the hoop as they are struck with a hammer to drive the hoop over the staves.

A coopers driver that was made as a tool to enable a cooper to position hoops on a barrel that has not changed for hundreds of years. Item at this time cannot be associated with an historical event, person or place, provenance is unknown, item assessed as a collection asset as it is believed to have been produced before 1950.
