Historical information

The items include one intact brass clip and sections of others. They were used for hoisting
visual signalling flags and relate to the use of the forty‐one flags (CNLS 0004.41), which were
used to convey messages to passing ships and which are included in the Victorian Heritage
Register listing for the lightstation (VHR H1773) .

They have second level contributory
significance for their provenance to the lightstation and association with its set of
navigational flags (CNLS 0004.41), which were a major part of the communications system
formerly used at the lightstation.
