This is a set of nine photographs of Defence Force Service Medal presentations by the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Sir Donald Dunstan AC, KBE, CB; at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo on the 5th of June 1979. The photos were taken next to the flagpole in Fortuna Villa’s front garden. Upon retirement from the Army in 1982, Lieutenant General Sir Donald Dunstan AC, KBE, CB; was appointed to the position of Governor of South Australia from 1982 to 1991. On this occasion the CGS presented the Defence Force Service Medal to WO2 Alex Cairney, WO1 Bob Mason and WO2 Ken Slater for 15 years of efficient remunerated service in the Australian Army. It is likely the unidentified UK Exchange senior NCO was the recipient of the UK Army’s equivalent service medal. Other key staff appearing in these photos are LTCOL Bob Skitch was the CO of the Army Svy Rgt from 1976 to 1980 and WO1 Aub Harvey, who was RSM from 1976 to 1982. MAJ Don Swiney MBE was later promoted to LTCOL and was CO of the Army Svy Rgt from 1985 to 1987. He was subsequently promoted to Colonel and was Director of the Royal Australian Survey Corp from November 1988 to January 1991, and the honorary position as Colonel Commandant from January 1993 to January 1996. This is a set of 14 photographs of a visit to the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo on the 5th of June 1979 by the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) Lieutenant General Sir Donald Dunstan AC, KBE, CB. He was accompanied by his wife. They were escorted through the production areas of the Army Survey Regiment by the CO LTCOL Bob Skitch. Lieutenant General Sir Donald Dunstan AC, KBE, CB was an esteemed Australian Army officer, who was CGS from 1977 to 1982. Upon retirement from the Army in 1982, he was appointed to the position of Governor of South Australia from 1982 to 1991. LTCOL Bob Skitch was the CO of the Army Svy Rgt from 1976 to 1980. Also featuring in these photos is MAJ Peter Eddy, who was the OC of Air Survey Squadron. He was later promoted to LTCOL and was CO of the Army Svy Rgt from 1981 to 1982. This is a set of two photographs of Directors of Survey Army Headquarters circa 1942 to 1967. COL Lawrence FitzGerald OBE was Director from 1942 to 1960. He received the Order of the British Empire in 1948 for his service in WW2. Although it is not known when BRIG Lawrence FitzGerald OBE was promoted to Brigadier, it is possibly an honorary promotion on his retirement in 1960. He served in the Australian Army from 03 September 1923 to 05 January 1960. COL Lawrence FitzGerald OBE was succeeded by COL Donald Macdonald AM, whose appointment to Director was from 1960 to 1967. COL Macdonald AM was promoted to Brigadier on his retirement before assuming the honorary position of Colonel Commandant of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. He served in the Australian Army from 01 January 1936 to 22 March 1960.

"Peter Stocklahsa" No. A317352 joined the RAAF in 1966. He did recruit training in S.A. and Course training in Wagga. Following was a series of postings to Point Cook 1969, Malaysia 1971, back to Point Cook in 1976, to ACT in 1978, to Laverton in 1981, to East Sale in 1982, back to Malaysia in 1984 then back to Point Cook until he retired in 1987.

Letter was from a USA family member of a US soldier staying at a private residence in Bendigo. The US soldier was not permitted to communicate with family members as to their location. the Granger family circumvented that by sending a cable to his family and this letter was a reply to them.

This is a heavy wooden propeller for an aircraft. It is painted blue with birch tips. It has a large centre hole of 8 cm diameter. It has 8 bolt holes of 18 mm diameter. The propeller tips are squared (ie not tapered). One side of the blades have an aeronautical curved form.

Order of Australia Medal.
This is full scale replica of an OAM It has a circular blue enamel ring in the centre. The word "Australia" is in the blue ring. The large gold section has a large quantity of replica gems. The top of the gold medal is a crown set with red and white enamel. A ring is above the crown. Attached to the ring is a brass loop 30mm long. Through the loop is a small piece of blue ribbon with gold wattle flowers printed on it. The medal is pinned to a piece of green cardboard.

It has a 38 Bn - Northern Victorian RACT silver badge on each collar. It has a qty of six medal ribbons. War Medal 1939-45/ Defence Medal/ Pacific Star/ Africa Star/ 1939-45 Star/ Australian Service Medal. 2. White shirt - long sleeved - possibly silk. 3, Tie black - possibly silk. It is stitched in place. 4. Trousers black, red stripe, black buttons.
The shirt has a sales ticket "St. Vincent of Paul" Cost $0.30.

This is a medium size poster. It is drawn in black ink. It shows an image of HMAS SYDNEY, SS BURESK (Collier) and SMS EMDEN. It shows the tracks the two ships took through the battle. It shows dotting lines throughout the drawing - possibly indicating when shots were exchanged. It shows a list in the centre, showing basic specs of the two warships and their battle casualties. It also shows relative positions of Keeling Island and Direction Island.
