The star, commonly known as a 'pip' is derived from the Star of the Knight Cross of the Military Division of the Order of the Bath.

Physical description

Eighteen officer's rank insignia featuring a gold coloured star. In the middle of the star is a red circle with the motto 'Tria Juncla In Uno' inscribed. Surrounding this circle is a green laurel leaf wreath. On the back of each insignia are two metal pins to which are attached press clips for fastening to epaulettes.
