Historical information

The Peterborough Sandcastle competition has run for at least 50 years and is a highlight of the summer holiday season. Residents and visitors children all take part and the prizes are traditionally presented by the a gentleman dressed as the Lady Mayoress, with attendants.

Significance

Significant because it has been a feature of Peterborough for so long.
