John Ross arrived in Ballarat in 1863. He served as a gardener at the Ballarat & District Hospital from 1871 until 1926 when he retired at age 85 years.
Significance
As John Ross's garden at the Ballarat Hospital has been replaced by new buildings, this record of his highly regarded work remains.
