The North Kew Village Supermarket survived the Covid19 lockdowns, but according to locals the rent was put up and the supermarket became unviable and was foced to close. In the 1960s the supermarket was owned by Tainsshes.

George Crouch established the George Crouch Prize for contemporary art at the Ballarat art Gallery which ran from 1927 till the 1970s.

Mr George Crouch, passed away at the age of 86, at his residence, Wynnstay road, Airma dale, on Wednesday. For a number of years the late Mr Crouch conducted a boot and shoe store in Bridge street, and was successful in business. He leaves a widow, two sons, amndtwo daughters, one of the sons being Lieut.-Colonel R. A. Crouch, who represented Corio in the Federal Parliament for nine years, and who is a native of Ballarat." The Ballarat Ranger Barracks was the biggest barracks without internal supporting poles in the Southern Hemisphere when it was completed in 1886. This timber building was still in use as Ranger Barracks until 2001.

Photographs relating to Ballarat's Link with Pioneering in the Australian Film Industry. Near the spot depicted, in 1891, Captain Joseph Perry of the Salvation Army operated a Prison Gate Brigade Home on a rented property on Barley Street Ballarat East (since demolished). In the house he cared for prisoners who had been released from the Ballarat Gaol.. He also set up the Social Reform Wing photographic studio, and was it's sole operator. He used his photographic skills to publicise his work and to raise money. He also produced glass lantern slides. As part of the Salvation Army's Limelight department Joseph Perry produced "Sodiers of the Cross" (1900) and for the Australian Government Fedeation films in 1901, bith considered pioneer films in Australia.

John GLEESON Living at Campbell's Creek for over 30 years, John Gleeson makes a range of functional stoneware pottery. He fell in loved with pottery during a hobby class in Geelong in 1972. He worked for a year at Canny Ridge Pottery in Harcourt. John Gleeson uses white stoneware and porcelain clay from The Bendigo Pottery, and buff clay from Bennetts Pottery in Adelaide. He mixed all his own glazes from commercially sourced raw materials, sometimes supplemented with ash from his fire and local red clay to get special effects.
